Skydog Sanctuary’s mission is to rescue at risk mustangs and burros across America and reunite families torn apart during brutal roundup. Skydog provides a home and freedom for these incredible wild horses and burros. Skydog aims to increase public awareness of the mustang issue, showcase herd and family dynamics, and the general and historical value of America’s wild horses through media and social networks. Skydog hopes to show that wild horses can co-exist on the open range in ecological balance with many species of wildlife, and demonstrate how to best manage land to increase carrying capacity and reverse range degradation. Skydog is a place of peace and healing for volunteers in both Oregon and California who are able to come and spend time with the wild ones in nature and be around these beautiful rescued horses.

There are currently over 200 wild horses living in the big herd forever free, and 20-30 younger horses in training on site. MCR is dedicated to providing refuge, opportunity and space to wild horses. They believe that the best life insurance for a young horse is training. They invest in young horses so that they can be adopted and make room at MCR for other mustangs that have lost their place on our Western public lands.
Freedom Reigns Equine Sanctuary
http://www.freedomreignsequinesanctuary.org/
Freedom Reign Foundation is a non-profit 501C (3) that is dedicating to improving the lives of horses by rescuing those that are destined for slaughter and providing them a safe haven; backing legislature that improves the quality of life for horses in many industries; and educating the public on the plight of so many horses in need.
Freedom Reigns Sanctuary is a place to observe these beautiful creatures in their natural social circles and as close to natural habitat as we can create. FRES provides them with the basic care of semi-annual vaccines and hoof trimmings as well as any emergency care deemed necessary as long as their future quality of life will remain adequate for this setting. The equines are given ample freedom to select the friends and companions they connect and build bonds with which usually creates mini herds with like groups. Most of the horses are naturally grazing and moving about on over 3000 acres. Several smaller groups are temporarily homed in smaller pastures either as families, mares with new babies or horses needing temporary rehabilitation. Incoming horses are always quarantined for 4-6 weeks depending on where they are coming from. Any horses not grazing in the large pastures are fed daily hay that is farmed at the ranch.
Freedom Reigns is not open to the public but visitors are welcome to contact them for a private tour in the San Juan Bautista area. It is a working ranch in which the horses welfare is the main focus.

ASIAB is an equine rescue whose large ambitions include rescuing horses and donkeys from the feed lots who would otherwise be shipped across the border to be slaughtered for human consumption. They provide them with medical attention and most importantly, find them the loving homes they deserve. Furthermore, they use different community programs to further rehabilitate the horses, who in return help to rehabilitate the individuals in these programs.
They saw the need to step forward and create a way to help the nearly 100,000 horses and donkeys that are shipped to slaughter every year to Mexico and Canada.
Their organization is supported by friends, donors and volunteers that share this same belief!
